Here are your 2025 SBIA Board Members

President: Dan Chester

Vice President: Chuck Broadwater

Treasurer: Rick Cumbo

Recording Secretary: Jill Segal

Corresponding Secretary: Veronica Collins

Board Member: Eric Cohen

Board Member: Peggy Donovan

Board Member: Rafael Larrauri (also Boat Chairman)

November General Membership Highlights:

  1. Election Results: The following individuals were elected to the open positions: Dan Chester, Chuck Broadwater, Rick Cumbo, Jill Segal, Veronica Collins, and Rafael Larrauri.
  1. Seawall Repair & Quote:

A large section of the seawall near the garage has rusted out and has holes due to poor drainage causing the ground by the seawall to sink and rust out and create the holes in the wall from the land side.  We have obtained multiple quotes and the most cost effective is to install a new seawall outside the old wall on the canal side.  It will cost approximately $268,000 to install a new seawall for the entire canal area.  For an extra 21%, or ~$50,000  the entire seawall could be done with galvanized steel with a 50 year lifespan vs the type of steel currently which has a 25-30 year lifespan.

Thus far we have saved $113,877 in the Marina Fund and typically add another $20,000 annually to the fund.

Given the section of the seawall is not too bad coupled with the landscape work that is needed around the garage area, the Board has decided to: a) look to patch the holes or do nothing to the seawall and keep an eye on it and look to address in 3 – 5 years, and b) once the construction workers clear that area, the home owners building new homes have promised to restore that area.  At that time we will look to come on to a finish grade that provides better drainage control and install some new drains.

Shout Outs

A huge shout out to: Krystal Malota and Kelly Rooney for purchasing and setting up the Fall Holiday decorations for our Subdivision sign and bulletin board area.  It looks great and was greatly appreciated by all.

Many thanks to Kathy Goss, our outgoing Corresponding Secretary, for all she has done not only as our Corresponding Secretary but for creating and hosting our website for many years.

Next General Membership Meeting: Jan. 7th at Rafael’s home at 3897 Sunset.

We will review the 2025 budget and 2025 dues and fee schedule.

Wishing all of you a happy and safe holiday season!

Dan
